Batumi is a seaside city on the Black Sea coast and the  capital of Adjaria. It is located on the site of the ancient Greek colony in  Colchis called Bathus or Bathys – derived from the Greek phrase meaning "deep harbour".

Today Batumi attracts  by remarkable buildings and monuments of contemporary architecture.

The most impressive  and  popular monument is "Statue of love".  A 7 meter steel sculpture of a man and a woman stands on the seashore boulevard. The figures move toward each other and merge into one piece every 10 minutes.

The Statue of Love sculpture is inspired by the love story of “Ali and Nino”  by Kurban Said. The story is similar to Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and tells of an Azerbaijani youth who falls in love with a Georgian princess but dies defending his country.

Sheraton hotel is made in the style of The Great Lighthouse of Alexandria.

Alphabetic Tower  a 130 meter high iron construction embossed with 33 Georgian letters represents the sample of architecture similar to DNA cell. In the evening it is lightened with green and blue.

Astronomical Clock equipped with special mechanisms is located on a building of unique architecture. Besides ordinary time, the clock gives the chance to find out some astronomical information.

Up And Down is an unusual  restaurant. It is a truly weird building by any standards. It looks like a small version of the US White House resting on its roof at a jaunty angle. The theme continues inside – even if you don’t feel the need, a visit to the toilets is a must! There are two floors and on both it looks like you are walking on the ceiling. The downstairs has a lot of tables, as well as lounge area and a well stocked bar. Life music every day from 21:00 until midnight.

The Public Service Hall is made in shape of an upside-down bottle.

Piazza Square – one of the most amazing squares in Georgia -  has already become a symbol of Batumi. It is distinguished by its mosaic and stained glass windows and attracts lots of tourists.  Piazza offers all the necessary relevant facilities:  cafés, restaurants and a hotel. In Piazza Square they often perform concerts of worldwide musicians like Placido Domingo, Sting, Michel Legrand and Tamar Gverdtsiteli

Batumi Botanical Garden   is a quiet spot, next to the Black Sea on a high cliff and it both green and cool. Plan on a visit here to take a half day to nearly a full day as it is very large. The nearby beaches aren't very crowded so it's nice for a quiet day away from the main beach strip. The lower, upper and seaside parks are located on the main route of the garden. Currently, the garden consists of nine floristic sectors, those of Caucasian humid subtropics, East Asia, New Zealand, South America, the Himalayas, Mexico, Australia, and of the Mediterranean.

Makhuntseti Waterfall
Makhuntseti waterfall is located near the town of Keda, at 335 meters above sea level. Near the waterfall several picnic sites are available for visitors. While visiting the waterfall it is also possible to visit nearby tourist attractions, including the ancient arched stone Makhuntseti Bridge, Adjarian wine houses, and private wine cellars scattered throughout Keda Municipality.
